LIVONIA, Mich. — IU Northwest women's soccer secured its first win of the 2025 season Monday afternoon, defeating Madonna University 2-0 on the road behind first-half goals from Xiomara Santana and Erin Harrison.
The Redhawks (1-1-2) wasted little time, striking in the eighth minute when Santana found the back of the net for her first goal of the season. Fifteen minutes later, Harrison doubled the lead, scoring her first of the year to put IU Northwest in control.
From there, the Redhawks leaned on goalkeeper Isabel Escalera, who tallied three saves to record her first shutout of the season. IU Northwest held off a nine-shot effort from Madonna, including five attempts in the second half, to preserve the clean sheet.
The win marked the second time this season that IU Northwest had multiple goal scorers, with both Santana and Harrison opening their 2025 accounts in the victory.
The Redhawks return home on Saturday, Sept. 6, for a 3 p.m. match against the University of Michigan-Dearborn at East Chicago Central High School.
