KOKOMO, Ind. — Despite a dominant offensive showing, IU Northwest women's soccer was unable to find the back of the net in a 2-0 loss at IU Kokomo on Tuesday evening.
The Redhawks (0-1-1) outshot the Cougars 26-9 and earned nine corner kicks, but IU Kokomo goalkeeper Kailee Moore turned away 14 shots to keep the visitors scoreless.
The Cougars struck early in the 12th minute when Rylee Walczak finished unassisted to give the hosts a 1-0 lead. Just after halftime, Kaiya Bogers doubled the advantage with a goal in the 48th minute, also unassisted.
Freshman forward Piper Ellenberger led IU Northwest with four shots on goal, while Natalie Pacheco and Xiomara Santana each added multiple scoring chances. Goalkeeper Isabel Escalera recorded five saves for the Redhawks.
IU Northwest returns home for its next match on Saturday, Aug. 30, hosting Goshen College at 7 p.m. at East Chicago Central High School. Tickets are available for purchase at the gate (card only).
