NEW ALBANY, Ind. — Indiana University Northwest finished the afternoon with its best offensive quarter, but an early deficit proved too much to overcome as the Redhawks dropped an 82–64 road decision to IU Southeast on Saturday.
Ava Kingery led IU Northwest with 14 points, connecting on four 3-pointers, while De'Mour Watson posted a well-rounded line with nine points and a team-high 10 rebounds. Maggie Grady and EJ Brown-Griffin each added five points, and the Redhawks received solid contributions off the bench, finishing with 27 bench points.
IU Northwest struggled to find rhythm early as IU Southeast jumped out to a 20–10 lead after one quarter. The Grenadiers continued to stretch the margin in the second, using perimeter shooting and transition buckets to take a 44–26 advantage into halftime.
The Redhawks showed resilience coming out of the break. Kingery knocked down a pair of triples, and Watson attacked the rim to spark momentum, but IU Southeast answered with timely shooting to maintain control through three quarters.
IU Northwest put together its strongest stretch in the final frame, outscoring IU Southeast 27–17. Kingery hit another three, Diamond Howell scored six points in the quarter, and the Redhawks were a perfect 8-for-8 at the free-throw line in the fourth. Despite the late push, the early hole proved too deep as IU Southeast secured the win.
The Redhawks finished with a 39–44 rebounding margin and shot 77.8 percent from the free-throw line, but turnovers and IU Southeast's 14 made 3-pointers tilted the outcome.
IU Northwest now looks ahead to a long-awaited return home as they host Spring Arbor (Mich.), RV, on Thursday, Dec. 18, in a postponed contest from Nov. 29. Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. inside the Savannah Center.
