CHICAGO — The Indiana University Northwest women's basketball team wrapped up its appearance at the Catholic Classic on Saturday afternoon, falling 105-47 to No. 5 Marian University (Ind.) at Saint Xavier University.
The RedHawks (1-4) battled early behind strong offensive play from EJ Brown-Griffin, who knocked down back-to-back jumpers to give IU Northwest early momentum. However, the Knights (3-0) used a 30-12 run to close the first quarter and never looked back.
Aniyah Hinton-Henry led the RedHawks with 10 points, going a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line and adding two steals. De'Mour Watson followed with nine points and a team-high 10 rebounds, while Ava Kingery added six points and two assists. Maggie Grady contributed nine points from the starting lineup, providing a steady presence in the front court.
IU Northwest shot 37.0 percent (17-for-46) from the field and 26.7 percent (4-for-15) from three-point range, while Marian hit 52 percent overall and knocked down 11 threes. The RedHawks stayed active defensively, forcing 13 turnovers and turning them into 10 points, while also grabbing 12 offensive rebounds to create second-chance opportunities.
IU Northwest returns home to the Savannah Center to host Olivet Nazarene on Tuesday, Nov. 12, with tipoff set for 7 p.m.
