Indiana Northwest Falls to Trinity Christian in Student-Athlete Mental Health Week Opener

Presented by IU School of Medicine

EAST CHICAGO, Ind. — Indiana University Northwest men's soccer generated several promising chances but fell 4-0 to Trinity Christian College on Saturday afternoon at East Chicago Central High School.

The match marked the kickoff of Student-Athlete Mental Health Week, an initiative highlighting the importance of mental wellness in college athletics. The event was held with the support of Hilinski's Hope, Lakeshore Bone and Joint Institute, Regional Health Systems, the IU School of Medicine, the IU Office of Counseling Services, and U Bring Change 2 Mind.

Goalkeeper Devun Collins delivered another strong performance for IU Northwest (1-10-1, 0-3-1 CCAC), recording nine saves — including several key stops in the opening half — to keep the RedHawks within reach. The Trolls (3-5-3, 1-2 CCAC) scored twice in each half, led by David Hernandez with two goals, while Diego Martin and Ismael Aguero each added one.

Offensively, IU Northwest produced nine shots, six on target. Alan Nunez and Luis Limones each tallied two attempts, while Dom Bixeman and Tye Adams provided additional pressure up front. The RedHawks created multiple looks in the attacking third but were unable to find the finishing touch.

IU Northwest returns to action Saturday, Oct. 11, traveling to Chicago to face Saint Xavier University (Ill.) at 7:30 p.m.
