EAST CHICAGO, Ind. — Indiana University Northwest men's soccer capped Senior Night with an emphatic 4-0 victory over the University of St. Francis (Ill.) on Tuesday evening at East Chicago Central High School.
Before kickoff, the RedHawks honored six seniors — Tre Adams, Dom Bixeman, Devun Collins, Nick Flores, Omar Mehisen, and Kyle Scott — for their leadership and lasting impact on the program. The group was celebrated by teammates, coaches, and fans ahead of the team's final home match of the regular season.
The RedHawks (3-13-1, 2-6-1 CCAC) carried that emotion into the match, scoring twice in the opening 16 minutes to take control. Erick Gonzalez opened the scoring in the 13th minute on a perfectly placed ball from Luis Limones, who tallied his first of two assists. Just over two minutes later, Tye Adams converted from the penalty spot to make it 2-0.
IU Northwest continued its dominance after halftime. Omar Mehisen extended the lead in the 49th minute with a composed finish off another assist from Limones, and Jake Klingaman sealed the result in the 83rd minute with his first collegiate goal.
Goalkeeper Devun Collins, one of the six honored seniors, anchored the shutout with five saves — his third clean sheet of the season. IU Northwest outshot St. Francis 22-8, including an 11-5 advantage in shots on goal, and earned six corner kicks to the Saints' two.
The RedHawks will close out the regular season Saturday, traveling to Bourbonnais, Illinois, to face Olivet Nazarene University. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
