Santana, Ellenberger Power IU Northwest in 9-0 Road Win Over Mount Mary

Presented by Marcus Allard Truck Rental

MILWAUKEE, Wis. — IU Northwest women's soccer exploded offensively Saturday afternoon, cruising to a 9-0 victory over Mount Mary University behind hat tricks from Xiomara Santana and Piper Ellenberger, and the first career goal from Allison Farmer.

The RedHawks (5-3-9, 3-2-6 CCAC) set the tone early, striking three times in the opening 20 minutes. Santana scored her first just two minutes in, added another in the 18th minute from a setup by Gabby Maldonado, and completed her hat trick in the 26th minute. Freshman Ava Haluska converted a penalty in the fifth minute to make it 2-0 as IU Northwest dominated possession throughout the first half.

The second half brought more of the same, as Ellenberger found the net three times between the 55th and 79th minutes. Farmer joined the scoring with her first collegiate goal in the 77th minute, while Emma Skalka capped the match with a late strike in the 89th off an assist from Madison Polzin.

IU Northwest outshot Mount Mary 48-5, including 32 on goal, and finished with nine different players recording shots. Goalkeeper Isabel Escalera posted three saves for her seventh shutout of the season.

The RedHawks return home Wednesday, Oct. 29, for their final home match of the regular season, hosting Viterbo University at 5 p.m. at East Chicago Central High School.
