Haluska, Ellenberger Score as IU Northwest Falls to Viterbo in Regular-Season Finale

Presented by Marcus Allard Truck Rental

EAST CHICAGO, Ind. — IU Northwest women's soccer wrapped up the regular season Wednesday night with a competitive 3-2 loss to Viterbo University at East Chicago Central High School.

The RedHawks (5-4-9, 3-3-6 CCAC) struck first in the 20th minute when Ava Haluska converted a penalty kick for her fourth goal of the year, giving IU Northwest an early 1-0 advantage. Viterbo (8-6, 7-5 CCAC) responded with two goals before halftime, including a 35th-minute strike from Casey Hill and another from Elle Hager five minutes later to take a 2-1 lead into the break.

The V-Hawks added a third goal in the 73rd minute before Piper Ellenberger scored in the 79th minute off an assist from Haluska, cutting the deficit to one. IU Northwest continued to press in the closing moments, recording seven second-half shots, but Viterbo held firm to secure the 3-2 result.

Goalkeeper Isabel Escalera made three saves, while Haluska and Ellenberger led the RedHawks offensively with two shots on goal apiece.

With the regular season complete, IU Northwest now turns its attention to the CCAC Tournament — the first in program history — beginning Nov. 4. The RedHawks will travel to the site of the higher seed. For more information and updates on the conference tournament standings, visit CCAC Women's Soccer
