MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Indiana University Northwest volleyball extended its win streak to three matches Tuesday night with a dominant 3-0 (25-14, 25-19, 25-22) sweep over Mount Mary University. The RedHawks controlled the match from start to finish, improving to 12-16 overall and 8-5 in CCAC play.
IU Northwest came out firing in the opening set, jumping to an 11-5 lead behind strong play from Raniyah Preston and Trinitie Lintner, who combined for three early kills and two blocks. The RedHawks used a 9-1 scoring run, highlighted by an ace from Eva Everett, to pull away 25-14.
Mount Mary regrouped in the second set, taking an early 8-2 advantage. IU Northwest responded with a 7-0 surge powered by back-to-back kills from Lindsey Krueger and Baileigh Uporsky. Marissa Gutierrez added a key service ace to put IUN ahead for good, and the RedHawks closed it out 25-19 on a Krueger swing from the right side.
The third set featured the most competitive action of the night as Mount Mary rallied late, cutting the deficit to 22-21. However, IU Northwest's composure at the net sealed the sweep. Preston and Lintner combined for a block, and Abby Allen's ace capped the 25-22 victory.
Lintner led the offense with a career-high .667 hitting percentage, recording 10 kills and four blocks. Krueger added nine kills on .300 hitting, while Preston notched a strong all-around performance with four kills, 16 assists, four blocks, and a service ace. Uporsky chipped in five kills and four blocks, and Everett anchored the defense with nine digs and two aces.
The RedHawks hit the road once more on Thursday, Oct. 23 to take on Saint Xavier University in Chicago, Ill. First serve is scheduled for 7 pm.
