IU Northwest Bookstore Recap: Jackson Shines as RedHawks Roll to Victory Over Trinity Christian

PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – Senior forward Tiara Jackson put on a dominant display Saturday afternoon, recording 24 points and 15 rebounds to propel Indiana Northwest to an 83-54 win over Trinity Christian at DeVos Gymnasium. The victory marked the RedHawks' second straight and improved their record to 12-4 overall and 5-3 in CCAC play.

Jackson was a force on both ends of the floor, shooting 9-of-15 from the field and adding four offensive rebounds. Her presence in the paint helped Indiana Northwest control the boards, as they outrebounded the Trolls 42-47 and scored 40 points in the paint. Jackson also contributed two steals, further showcasing her all-around impact.

The RedHawks also saw the return of star guard Jessica Carrothers, who missed the previous three games. Carrothers wasted no time making an impact, scoring 18 points on 8-of-13 shooting in just 17 minutes. She added five assists and five rebounds, providing a spark to an Indiana Northwest offense that showed efficiency and balance throughout the game.

Indiana Northwest set the tone early, building a 16-9 lead by the end of the first quarter. The RedHawks expanded their advantage to 40-23 at halftime, fueled by their defensive effort and ability to capitalize on turnovers, scoring 15 points off Trinity Christian's 17 miscues.

Ava Kingery added 13 points, five rebounds, and three assists, while Alyna Santiago contributed nine points, shooting 3-of-7 from beyond the arc. Katelyn Halfacre played a strong all-around game with eight points, four assists, and three rebounds, while Amari Cole provided a spark off the bench with six points and five rebounds in just 14 minutes.

For Trinity Christian (2-12, 2-6 CCAC), Destiny Goodwin led the way with a double-double, scoring 14 points and grabbing 15 rebounds. Kyla Smith provided a lift off the bench, scoring a team-high 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting. However, the Trolls struggled to find offensive rhythm, shooting just 26.6% from the field and 21.4% from three-point range.

The RedHawks led by as many as 35 points in the fourth quarter, showcasing their depth and composure. Indiana Northwest finished the game shooting 45.8% from the field and 81.8% from the free-throw line, demonstrating their offensive efficiency.

The RedHawks will look to keep their momentum rolling as they head to LaCrosse, Wisconsin, to take on Viterbo University on Wednesday, January 15. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m. CT.
