BOURBONNAIS, Ill. - The Indiana University Northwest women's soccer team traveled to Bourbonnais Saturday night to face Olivet Nazarene University, which entered the match atop the CCAC standings with an undefeated record in conference play.
The Tigers were on the attack throughout the night, forcing the RedHawks to defend for most of the match. Olivet Nazarene recorded 24 total shots to the RedHawks' 4, putting 13 shots on goal compared to just one from IU Northwest, which came from senior midfielder
Olivia Hansen.
Olivet Nazarene opened the scoring when sophomore defender Hailey King launched a throw-in into the RedHawks' 18-yard box, where sophomore forward Skylar Bos tapped it in, giving the Tigers up 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
. Despite a strong effort from junior goalkeeper
Isabel Escalera, who made 10 saves, the Tigers added two more goals in the second half—another from Bos and one from junior defender Emma Daniels—resulting in a 3-0 defeat for the RedHawks.
IU Northwest falls to 4-4-2 overall and 1-1-1 in CCAC play. The RedHawks were unable to generate much offense in the attacking third but will look to rebound in their next match when they will travel to Notre Dame, Indiana to face conference opponent Holy Cross College on Tuesday, October 1. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. CDT.
