Whiting, Ind. – IU Northwest women's volleyball made their CCAC conference debut on Tuesday when they traveled to Whiting Indiana to tussle with region rival and fellow two-one-niners the Calumet St. Joseph Crimson Wave.
The RedHawks jumped out to a quick start and dominated the Wave during the opening set and setting the tone for a straight set (25-17, 25-14, 25-8) victory.
Erica Packwood led the RedHawks with 13 kills, 8 assists and 5 digs in a great all around effort. Fellow senior
Josephine Mulligan set the table for the RedHawks offensive attack registering a match high 15 assists to go with a team high 10 digs.
Freshman
Eva Everett added 6 service aces and kept the Wave off balance through the match.
Briah Strezo and
Julianna Kisel combined for 9 kills with Kisel leading the RedHawks with a .800 hitting percentage finishing four of her five attack opportunities.
The RedHawks (8-9/1-0) earned their first conference win of the season and continue CCAC play when then welcome the Saints from St. Francis to the Savannah Center on Thursday for their home opener. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
