Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Red hot RedHawks win seven straight

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The winning streak has reached seven in a row for the Indiana University Northwest men's basketball team with the 85-82 overtime victory at Olivet Nazarene Wednesday evening in CCAC action.

Trace Williams, who finished the contest with 17 points and 10 rebounds drilled a three just past the halfway point in the first half, which gave the RedHawks a seven-point advantage. Seven minutes later, however, ONU took a lead, but IUN was quickly able to go right back on top.

Thirty seconds before heading into the locker room for intermission, the Tigers grabbed a slim one-point lead (36-35).

Early in the second half ONU would build a lead of seven, but Williams drained a jumper to end the Tigers run. After the Williams bucket, the RedHawks swung the momentum and would go up by five after a Brian Hernandez three.

Later in the half, an Anthony Taylor dunk put IUN up by seven, but the RedHawks were not able to extend the cushion. With a minute left in the ballgame, ONU took a two-point lead, but a Dannie Smith basket sent the game to overtime.

After the Tigers scored the first points of the extra session, IUN would answer right back by putting in the next eight points to go up by six. The RedHawks were then able to hang on after Taylor iced the game by hitting the front end of two free throws.

The surging RedHawks returns to action Saturday when they travel to Trinity Christian for a 3 p.m. tip-off in Palos Heights.
