Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Make it eight straight for IUN

PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – Dannie Smith scored 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to help give the Indiana University Northwest men's basketball team an 83-70 victory over Trinity Christian Saturday afternoon.

Smith connected from outside at the 17:50 mark, which gave the RedHawks a one-point lead. Moments later Demarius Splunge scored inside the paint, which put IUN up by 10 and the lead would eventually go to 16. However, right before the break TCC scored to make it 41-27 going into the break.

Early in the second half a Jaylen Jennings dunk would put the RedHawks lead back to 16, but the advantage would not get any larger until late in the game.

With less than six minutes remaining, Brian Hernandez drilled a three giving the RedHawks 19-point edge. IUN would not be able to go by more but were able to finish on Trace Williams old fashion three-point play.

The victory keeps the RedHawks in third place in the CCAC standings with four games remaining on the conference slate. IUN returns to action Wednesday when Judson comes to the Savannah Center at 7:30 p.m.
