SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Jessica Carrothers finished the season with a team-high 22 points, while
Samantha Martin added 14 points and 9 rebounds in the Indiana University Northwest women's basketball teams 77-66 loss at IU South Bend Thursday.
To start the game the RedHakws got five quick points from
Katelyn Halfacre and Carrothers, but the Titans responded with a 10-0 run. IUN tied the game back up seconds later after a
Makayla Best three and a midrange jumper by Carrothers.
The RedHawks couldn't keep the momentum on their side as IUSB took a lead that would last for the remainder of the contest.
Late in the second quarter
Alyna Santiago drilled a trifecta to make it a one-point contest, however another Titans swing in the closing moments of the opening half gave them a seven-point lead at the break.
During third quarter action the RedHawks got the game within six but would not be able to draw any closer until Best hit from deep with a minute to go in the game making it 69-64. Titans though would connect on their free throws to finish up the game, and IUN got a layup from
Tiara Jackson to finish up the game.
Halfacre and Best each closed out the semifinal with nine points apiece, while Halfacre dished three assists along with Santiago.
