CHICAGO – Anthony Taylor scored a game-high 20 points, and the Indiana University Northwest men's basketball team took down No. 11 Roosevelt 81-70 Saturday in the CCAC regular season finale.
Brian Hernandez gave the RedHawks their first lead of the day at the 9:43 mark in the opening half with a three. Then a minute later Hernandez connected from beyond the arc again and IUN was up by six.
The RedHawks, however, couldn't build on the lead as the Lakers retook the advantage just before the intermission.
Seconds into the second half Taylor hit from outside to put IUN back on top. The Lakers though hit back-to-back layups to go back up, but then it was
Demarius Splunge's turn to hit from outside, which tied the game once again.
On the RedHawks next offensive possession, Taylor grabbed an offensive board and put the ball in the bucket to put IUN on top for the rest of the contest. Late in the game the RedHawks got their lead to double digits on a Taylor bunny.
IUN put the final touches on the game with 18 seconds left when Splunge hammered the ball home. Splunge finished the afternoon with 11 points and six rebounds.
Next on the docket for the RedHawks is the CCAC Tournament on Wednesday as the No. 2 seed and play No. 7 St. Francis inside the Savannah Center at 7 p.m.
