IU Northwest Bookstore Recap: Carrothers' Triple-Double Leads Indiana Northwest Past Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, 74-63

Jackson adds a double-double with 26 points and 12 rebounds

Box Score Jessica Carrothers delivered a historic performance Saturday afternoon, notching her first career triple-double to lead Indiana Northwest to a 74-63 win over Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. Carrothers was unstoppable, finishing with 28 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists, and six steals. The sophomore guard controlled every facet of the game as the RedHawks (8-1) extended their winning streak to three games.

Carrothers received strong support from her teammates, including Tiara Jackson, who recorded her sixth double-double of the season with 26 points and 10 rebounds. Ava Kingery also contributed 11 points, while Alyna Santiago chipped in four points, four rebounds, and three assists.

Indiana Northwest set the tone early, opening the game with efficient ball movement and strong defensive pressure. The RedHawks shot 50.8% from the field while holding the Pomeroys to 37.7% shooting. They dominated inside, scoring 38 points in the paint compared to Saint Mary-of-the-Woods' 24.

Despite trailing early, the Pomeroys (6-4) stayed competitive behind a strong perimeter shooting performance. Saint Mary-of-the-Woods connected on nine 3-pointers, shooting 42.9% from beyond the arc. Madison Fueger led the way with 16 points and four rebounds, while Brooklynn Jones and Diamond Bryant added 11 and eight points, respectively. Bryant also grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds and dished out five assists.

The RedHawks' dominance on the boards proved crucial, as they outrebounded the Pomeroys 39-31, including a 30-20 edge in defensive rebounds. Carrothers and Jackson combined for 22 of those boards, ensuring that Indiana Northwest controlled the tempo throughout the contest.

Indiana Northwest built its largest lead of the game at 18 points with just over three minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. The RedHawks converted turnovers into points, scoring 19 off 15 Pomeroy miscues. The defense, anchored by Carrothers' six steals, stymied any hope of a Saint Mary-of-the-Woods comeback.

In addition to their defensive effort, the RedHawks distributed the ball effectively, racking up 21 assists on 31 made field goals. Their unselfish play was exemplified by Carrothers, whose 10 assists highlighted her role as both a scorer and facilitator.

RedHawks return home on Saturday, Dec. 7, to host the University of St. Francis in a pivotal CCAC matchup. Both teams are 2-0 in conference play, with the Fighting Saints holding a 7-1 overall record. Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Savannah Center.
