Indiana Northwest maintained its unbeaten streak to begin the season with a commanding 82-65 victory over Lawrence Tech on Saturday at the Savannah Center.
The RedHawks (4-0) were led by
Jessica Carrothers, who delivered an impressive 34-point performance on 15-of-21 shooting, while also adding five rebounds, four assists, and three steals.
Tiara Jackson anchored Indiana Northwest's inside game with a double-double, contributing 20 points and 11 rebounds, five of which were offensive, to help the RedHawks control the glass.
Indiana Northwest set the tone early, outpacing Lawrence Tech 26-20 in the first quarter, and went into halftime with a nine-point lead after a 21-18 second quarter. The RedHawks broke the game open in the third, outscoring the Blue Devils 21-10 and building a lead that swelled to as many as 23 points in the fourth quarter.
Shooting an efficient 47.7% from the field and 81.3% from the free-throw line, Indiana Northwest maintained a balanced offensive attack.
Katelyn Halfacre contributed 11 points, knocking down three three-pointers, while
Ava Kingery added nine points off the bench on 2-of-5 shooting, going a perfect 4-of-4 from the line.
Lawrence Tech (1-3) was led by Reese Williams' efficient 24-point showing, hitting 7-of-9 from the field and 4-of-5 from beyond the arc. Maggie Long chipped in 11 points, while Kate Jacobs contributed seven points and six rebounds. However, the Blue Devils struggled in the third quarter, shooting just 20% and failing to keep pace.
Indiana Northwest's control in the paint was evident, with 30 points scored inside and 16 second-chance points from 13 offensive rebounds. The RedHawks also held a 43-35 advantage on the boards and scored 12 points off Lawrence Tech's turnovers.
Indiana Northwest is now 4-0 to begin the season and will look to remain unbeaten when they travel to Huntington, Indiana on Wednesday, November 13 to play Huntington University. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. CST.
