Eclipse Charters and Tours Recap: Indiana Northwest’s Season Ends with 2-0 Loss to Top-Seeded Governors State in CCAC Quarterfinals

Box Score CROWN POINT, Ind. - Indiana Northwest's postseason debut ended in a hard-fought 2-0 quarterfinal defeat to top-seeded Governors State in the CCAC Conference Tournament. Facing the formidable #1 Jaguars, the #8-seeded RedHawks held their ground defensively but were unable to overcome Governors State's balanced attack.

Governors State took control early, dominating possession and pressuring Indiana Northwest's backline. The Jaguars broke through in the 26th minute with Raul Garcia's goal, which gave Governors State a 1-0 lead. Indiana Northwest's defense and goalkeeper Devun Collins kept the team within striking distance, with Collins recording eight saves on 23 shots faced. Indiana Northwest responded with a few promising counterattacks, led by Trevon Hamilton, who registered two shots on goal, but struggled to penetrate Governors State's organized defense.

As the match wore on, Governors State continued to press. In the 70th minute, forward Marton Borombos capitalized on a scoring opportunity to put the Jaguars up 2-0, a goal that all but sealed the victory. Governors State finished with a 10-2 advantage in shots on goal and 8-3 in corner kicks.

Despite the result, the RedHawks marked a significant achievement in qualifying for the CCAC Conference Tournament for the first time in program history. This milestone sets a strong foundation for the program's future.
