Elgin, Ill. - RedHawks men's soccer traveled to Elgin to square off with the Judson Eagles as they continue their quest for the CCAC playoffs. Entering the match the RedHawks are holding the eighth and final playoff spot with one week remaining in the regular season.
The Eagles struck first with a goal in the 23rd minute by Joao Caetano to make it 1-0 in favor of Judson. The score would remain just a one a goal differential at the half and until the 71st minute when the Eagles would add an insurance goal with a strike by Inigo Capellan as Judson would take the match with a final score of 2-0.
Judson controlled the match for much of the 90 minutes limiting the RedHawks to just two shots on goal and five total shots on the afternoon. Meanwhile the Eagles earned 14 shots with 5 on net as RedHawks goal keeper
Devun Collins made 3 saves.
Avione Lane,
Luis Limones,
Trevon Hamilton,
Cesar Lopez and
Peter Martinez accounted for the RedHawks' five shots. IU Northwest earned five corner kicks and held the Eagles to just two corners for the match.
Despite the result, the RedHawks 2-3-4 in CCAC play remain in the eighth spot and in the playoff picture. They return to action this Wednesday, October 30 when they face the Governors State Jaguars for a 8 p.m CDT kickoff at the Sportsplex in Crown Point, Ind.
