NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Dannie Smith led the way with 19 points and seven rebounds to help push the Indiana University Northwest men's basketball team past Holy Cross Wednesday night 83-65 in CCAC action.
Less than five minutes into the game
Trace Williams put the RedHawks on top by one (14-13) with a jumper in the paint. IUN would carry the lead for the rest of the first half and would go up by as much as seven after
Anthony Taylor drained a three.
The Saints got the RedHawks lead down to a bucket with 49 seconds left and on the next trip down the floor
Brian Hernandez made good on a jumper, which put IUN up by four going into the locker room.
At the 14:09 mark in the second half
Demarius Splunge scored two of his nine points on a basket in the paint. The Splunge bucket put the RedHawks up by double-double digits for the first time, and it would stay that way for the rest of the contest.
Later in the final half
Jaylen Jennings pushed IUN's advantage to 20 and it would get as high as 23 on another jumper by Splunge with a couple minutes to go.
IUN puts its season-long five-game winning streak on the line Saturday at 3 p.m. when Saint Xavier comes to the Savannah Center for a CCAC contest.
