CROWN POINT, Ind. – Dom Bixeman had three shots with one of those landing on target for the Indiana University Northwest men's soccer team, but Holy Cross escaped town with a 2-0 CCAC victory Tuesday night.
The RedHawks had a pair of looks at the net early in the contest as
Luis Limones and Bixeman each fired a shot. Limones attempt just went high, while Bixeman's was blocked by a Saints defender.
In the 27
th minute Bixeman had another opportunity to put the ball in the back of the net, but his shot hit the cross bar and the game remained scoreless.
Five minutes later, HC scored its first goal of the day following a foul called on IUN as Juan Perez squeaked a shot past
Jared Hecimovich, who would make a save near the end of opening period to keep it a one score game.
Francisco Torres would try to hit the equalizer in the 60
th minute, but his attempt was stopped by the Saints keeper.
Following HC's second goal, the RedHawks would have two more attempts to put a shot in, however Bixeman's shot just went to the left and
Lazo Golubovic's ball was stoned by the keeper.
IUN is on the road for the next two matches as it travels to Alma on Friday and Saint Ambrose on Wednesday, Oct. 4.
