CROWN POINT, Ind. – The Indiana University Northwest women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to Olivet Nazarene Friday night in CCAC play at the Crown Point SportsPlex.
The RedHawks (1-3-4, 0-3-0) defense was put to work at the start, as
Isabel Escalera made nine first period saves and allowed just one opening half goal. The IUN offense, meanwhile, got a pair looks from
Kelly Landry, who had her shots stopped by the ONU goalie.
Five minutes into the second half, the RedHawks went on the attack as Landry sent her shot to the cross bar, but the Tigers (3-2-2, 2-0-0) keeper reached up and made the save.
Kendal Carrubba also had a look moments after Landry, but her shot went high.
With 28 minutes left in the second half ONU tallied its second goal of the day despite IUN protesting and asking for an offsides call. In the 66
th minute of the contest, a collision foul was called in the box and the Tigers were awarded a penalty kick and scored to make it 3-0.
Late in the contest, IUN got into the attacking third, but were not able to get any shots off. With the clock ticking away the RedHawks went hard at the box, but their cross pass was intercepted by the Tigers defense.
IUN returns to play on Wednesday, Sept. 27 against Holy Cross with kickoff slated for 8 p.m. in Crown Point.
