CROWN POINT, Ind. – Isabel Escalera had five saves including two stops late to help the Indiana University Northwest women's soccer team keep IU East off the board in the 0-0 tie Saturday at the Crown Point SportsPlex.
The RedHawks are now 1-0-2 and return to action Wednesday on the road when they travel to Saint Francis (Ind.) at 7:30 p.m. (EDT).
During opening half action, IUN had five total shots including two shots that were stopped by IUE keeper Kylie O'Leary. However, one of the biggest saves of the first 45 minutes was with three-minutes remaining when the RedHawks defense forced the Red Wolves attack to miss a shot just left of the post.
After the break, IUN fired two shots towards the net, but were turned away empty handed as
Olivia Hansen and
Abigail Heintz each had the attempts.
Escalera, meanwhile, made three consecutive saves in the less than a minute one of which spun near line and was saved just before hitting the back of the net. The Waukegan, Ill., native made her final save of the evening at 69:40.
