GARY, Ind. – Chloe Roberts finished her evening with six kills, 10 assists and 11 digs Tuesday, but the Indiana University Northwest volleyball team dropped a four setter (14-25, 18-25, 25-23, 10-25) to CCAC foe Judson inside the Savannah Center.
The RedHawks (2-13, 1-1 CCAC) and Eagles (7-1, 4-0 CCAC) were trading points early, but JU used an 8-1 swing midway through to take command of the opening set.
Baileigh Uporsky and
Briah Strezo each had two kills in the first set to lead the IUN offense.
When Roberts hammered down one of her six kills in the second stanza to give the RedHawks a 14-10 lead it led to an Eagle timeout. IUN, however, kept the momentum and led by three (18-15) when
Karly Jevert smacked down a kill. JU though would keep the RedHawks off the board as it scored the final 10 points.
Late in the third, the Eagles were up 17-15, but Roberts and Strezo would each score to shift the momentum. The RedHawks outscored JU 8-6 to finish up the stanza, and during that time
Erica Packwood picked up two kills.
In the final set the Eagles jumped out to an 4-0 early lead, but the RedHawks answered back and got to within one (5-4) following an unforced error. But a 15-2 JU run ended the IUN rally and finished the night.
The RedHawks are back in action Thursday when it takes on St. Francis in Gary starting at 7 p.m. The contest will be streamed live in on JED TV.
