CROWN POINT, Ind. – Jared Hecimovich stopped nine shots and
Francisco Torres scored a late goal, but the Indiana University Northwest men's soccer team came up short in the 3-1 decision against Shawnee State Friday afternoon.
The RedHawks are 0-1-1 and return to action Tuesday at Andrews starting at 4 p.m. (CDT) in Berrien Springs, Mich.
Hecimovich made three quick saves off the bat, and the IUN attack got going at the 12-minute mark when
Dom Bixeman sent a header towards the box, but he was turned away
. Luis Limones, meanwhile, had look at the net later in the period but his attempt went wide.
SSU, however, was able to score twice before the break and take a 2-0 advantage into the locker rooms.
During second half play, Hecimovich made three more saves early, but a hot shot by the Bears at 74:07 pushed their lead to 3-0. Nine minutes later however, the RedHawks answered back when Torres took a throw in from
Jason Isaksen and raced towards the net and scored.
Through two games this season Hecimovich has made 13 saves, while Limones and Torres have each scored a goal for the RedHawks.
