GARY, Ind. – There is a full slate of action this week for the Indiana University Northwest athletic department beginning Tuesday with volleyball match and wrapping Saturday evening in a women's soccer contest.

2 p.m. – Volleyball versus Kentucky Christian (at Siena Heights)
6 p.m. – IU East versus Women's Soccer
Volleyball
Coming into the week, the RedHawks are looking for their first win of 2023 after getting handcuffed over the first five matches.
Jaelyn Donald and
Briah Strezo lead IUN in kills with 42 combined, while
Baileigh Uporsky and
Karly Jevert top the net defense with 25 total blocks.
CCSJ, meanwhile, arrives at IUN Tuesday with a 1-3 record with its win coming over York (Neb.) 10 days ago. The Crimson Wave and RedHawks have done battle 20 times since 2006, but IUN has won the last 12 consecutive contests.
Women's Soccer
For the first time in program history, the RedHawks take on IU Kokomo and IU East this week. The Cougars are 1-1-1 this season with their victory coming over Freed-Hardeman, while the Red Wolves are 0-2-0 and have been outscored 8-3.
In IUN's season opener last Friday, it got goals from
Kelly Shaffer and
Olivia Montes in the first half, while
Isabel Escalera tallied a game-high nine saves.
Cross Country
The RedHawks begin the 2023 campaign on Friday evening at NCAA Division II Lewis University, which will be a 4-kilometer race for the women and a 6K competition on the men's side. The Flyers finished first and second last season in their respective conference championship.
Men's Soccer
In the opening match of the season at Great Lakes Christians both squads scored a first half goal in the 1-1 tie.
Jared Hecimovich faced five shots and stopped four, while the RedHawks had three shots on target with two being stoned.
On Friday, IUN welcomes Shawnee State to the Crown Point SportsPlex for a 4 p.m. kickoff. The Bears are 0-2-0 after dropping both of their first week matches to Rochester and Campbellsville.
