Redhawks Held Scoreless as IU East Pulls Away for 3-0 Win

Presented by Marcus Allard Truck Rental

EATON, Ohio — IU Northwest men's soccer couldn't solve IU East's Jaiden Earls-led attack on the road Saturday, falling 3-0 to the host Red Wolves despite a night of steady work in goal from Carter Levesque.

IU East struck first in the fourth minute when Aiden Billiter buried an unassisted goal off a corner kick, and the Redhawks spent the rest of the half trying to answer back. IU Northwest generated some looks of its own, with Damian Lopez and Eric Lopez each testing the IU East defense, but couldn't find an equalizer before the break.

The Red Wolves pulled away in the second half. Jaiden Earls set up back-to-back goals, first finding Filipe Godoi in the 49th minute and then Brody McKinney in the 56th minute, turning a one-goal game into a comfortable 3-0 cushion.

Levesque kept the Redhawks in it for much of the night, making four saves before giving way to Jackson Novak, who made a stop of his own in his time between the posts. On the other end, IU East's Elijah Williamson was busy as well, turning away four shots as IU Northwest pushed in search of a goal, including late chances from Josh Braun and Cesar Lopez that were turned aside in the final 10 minutes.

The Redhawks had their chances down the stretch — Erick Gonzalez, Dawah Newton and Chase Beals all had shots in the second half — but couldn't get one past Williamson, who finished with the clean sheet.

IU Northwest returns home to face Waldorf (Iowa) on Tuesday, Sept. 1, at East Chicago Central High School. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. CDT.
