INDIANAPOLIS – Anthony Taylor finished with a team-high 18 points, while
Dannie Smith added 11 points and seven rebounds for the Indiana University Northwest men's basketball team, but Marian was a 100-74 winner Saturday evening.
Brian Hernandez hit a deep three near the halfway point of the opening half to bring the RedHawks within four (22-18). IUN continued to stay close on the heels of the Knights, which includes Taylor hitting trifecta with seven minutes left.
However, Marian would go on a late surge when it hit back-to-back threes, which was part of an 11-5 swing to close the first 20 minutes.
At the 12:30 mark Hernandez scored down low putting the RedHawks down 15, which capped off a 9-0 run. IUN, however, could not draw any closer as the Knights would eventually go up by 29 late in the contest.
Jaylen Jennings scored the final points of the night for IUN as the junior from Indianapolis finished with a season-best 17 points.
Next up for the RedHawks is home contest against CCAC rival Calumet St. Joseph's starting at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
