DAVENPORT, Iowa – Francisco Torres and
Tyler Davis combined for six shots, but the Indiana University Northwest men's soccer team fell on the road 2-0 at Saint Ambrose Wednesday evening during conference play.
Three and a half minutes into the contest, Torres had his first look at a scoring chance for the RedHawks, but he could not slide the ball past the keeper. Nearly nine minutes later, however SAU drew first blood with a goal.
Near the end of the opening half Davis had a chance to hit the equalizer, however his first chance was blocked by the defense. Then right before the clock expired his shot was saved by Bees keeper Zach Bauer.
During the early goings of second half action, SAU had the ball in its attacking third, but IUN keeper
Jared Hecimovich was able to keep it at a one goal contest. In the 74
th minute
Avione Lane tried to light the lamp for the RedHawks, however his shot attempt was denied.
Hecimovich, meanwhile, would stop three more shots in the second half, but SAU was able to score a second goal late in the contest to down IUN.
The RedHawks return home Tuesday at 8 p.m. when they welcome St. Francis to the Crown Point SportsPlex.
