Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

RedHawks drop nail biter

DAVENPORT, Iowa – Isabel Escalera faced a barrage of shots and made 12 saves, while Kelly Landry netted her second goal of the year, but the Indiana University Northwest women's soccer team lost 2-1 at Saint Ambrose Tuesday night.

Early in the contest, Escalera made a pair of stops and then Olivia Hansen tried to get the RedHawks (3-4-4, 2-4-0) on the board in the 15th minute, but her attempt sailed high. Following Hansen's look, the Bees hammered four shots at Escalera, however she was there to stop each one.

Seven seconds before intermission Landry took her shot at the net but she was turned away and the game went into halftime tied at zero.

Following the break SAU (6-4-0, 4-1-0) broke the scoreless draw in the 50th minute and then it added a second tally two minutes later.

Escalera, meanwhile, would not allow another goal as the Waukegan, Ill., native would go 6-of-6 on save opportunities over the final 38 minutes.

With less than seven minutes remaining Landry would get IUN in the scoring column when she nailed her second goal of the season. Landry had one last chance to tie the game with 38 ticks left, but her shot was saved.

The RedHawks return home Wednesday, Oct. 11 when they host St. Francis at 8 p.m. inside the Crown Point SportsPlex.
