LANSING, Mich. – Kelly Shaffer scored her sixth goal of the year in the second half, which was the equalizer in the Indiana University Northwest women's soccer team 1-1 tie with Great Lakes Christian Wednesday afternoon.
The RedHawks (3-6-5) fired 17 shots off with 12 landing goal as Crusaders keeper Malia Fry stopped 11 of IUN's goal scoring chances.
Kelly Landry and
Olivia Hansen sent eight shots towards the target to lead IUN on the day.
Two of Landry's shots were early in the first half, but in the 31
st minute GLCC broke the tie as it squeaked a shot past
Isabel Escalera, who made three stops on the day.
In the second 45 minutes, Shaffer took the ball in the RedHawks midfield and from 20 yards out sent a roller towards the box. However, as Fry was trying to make the save the ball went through five hole to tie the contest.
IUN kept peppering the Crusaders but could not get another ball past the goalkeeper as the RedHawks were forced to settle for the tie.
Up next for IUN is a road trip to Judson, which is scheduled to kickoff at 12 p.m. in Elgin, Ill.
