CROWN POINT, Ind. – Francisco Torres and
Luis Limones helped lift the Indiana University Northwest men's soccer team to a 3-1 victory over Calumet St. Joseph's Wednesday in CCAC action at the Crown Point SportsPlex.
Six minutes into the game, the RedHawks (4-9-1, 2-6-0) tallied their first goal of the day when Torres scored his first of two. However, in the 12
th minute the Crimson Wave (1-9-0, 0-8-0) tied the game on a ball that just got past IUN keeper
Jared Hecimovich, who stopped the only other shot he saw.
Right before halftime following a corner kick, Torres saw another opportunity and scored for the sixth time this season.
Early in the second period,
Alan Nunez had two shots that were saved, but in the 66
th minute Limones netted IUN's third goal of the day. Then in the 83
rd minute after CCSJ was whistled for a handball Torres was given a penalty kick, but he just missed the hat trick.
Up next for the RedHawks is a road game at conference foe Judson, which is scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. start.
