RedHawks win by a bakers dozen

GARY, Ind. – Jared Johnson and Malik Miller each hit double figures in the 73-60 CCAC victory for the Indiana University Northwest men's basketball team over Holy Cross Saturday afternoon inside the Savannah Center.

The RedHawks, who are now back at .500 with an 11-11 overall mark also improve to 9-5 in league action and return to the hardwood Wednesday, Feb. 1 against Governors State.

Early in the contest IUN could not separate itself from HC, but when Johnson nailed a three with 6:05 left in the opening 20 minutes it started an 8-2 spurt, which put the RedHawks up 32-23 at the break.

The run continued into the second period, which put IUN up 13 less than a minute into the stanza. HC, however, knocked the deficit down to six (51-45), but could not get any closer as the RedHawks went up by double digits after Johnson hit a shot in the paint moments later.

The RedHawks would eventually go up by 17 when Lamarius Lillard scored two of his nine points with just one minute remaining.
