GAME RECAP
Both teams traded threes for baskets to start the game. GSU went ahead 10-9 in the early going of the game.
IU Northwest scored seven points in a row after Sarah Martin made a pair of baskets and Michaela Schmidt knocked down a three-pointer to make it 16-10. GSU scored the next five points to make it a one-point game.
Sarah Martin hit a three-pointer to extend the lead to 19-15 with 3:06 left in the first quarter. IU Northwest led 21-20 at the end of the first quarter.
Schmidt started the second quarter with a three-point point to extend the lead back out to four (24-20). The Jaguars responded with a three-pointer to cut it back down to one.
The RedHawks would score the next 10 points of the game, four from Lauren Smolen and three-pointers by Schmidt and Katelyn Halfacre which made it 34-23 with 5:34 left before the break.
The Jaguars cut it to four (37-33) with 30 seconds left before halftime. Sarah Martin beat the buzzer towards the end of the first half with a layup.
GSU started the second half with back-to-back three pointers to tie the game up at 39-all. The Jaguars quickly took the lead after making two straight baskets to cap off a 10-0 run.
Karli Miller put an end to the run with a layup. The Jaguars went up by seven points again (52-45) with 1:27 left in the third quarter.
Back-to-back layups by Sarah Martin and Halfacre kept it close but then the Jaguars hit a three-pointer in the closing seconds of the third quarter. The Jaguars led 55-49 at the end of the third.
The RedHawks scored the first three baskets of the fourth quarter by Schmidt, Miller and Tiara Jackson to tie the game at 55-all. The Jaguars responded by making a three-pointer to make it 58-55 with 7:17 to play.
Jackson gave the RedHawks back the lead after making back-to-back layups which made it 59-58. GSU responded by making two straight layups, regaining the lead 62-59.
Meghan Long tied the game at 62-all after splitting a pair of free throws with 3:29 left in the game but the RedHawks would not score again. GSU ended up winning the game 65-62.
