Gary, Ind. - IU Northwest Women's basketball held their own for most of the afternoon in matchup with rival IU South Bend in an old fashioned slugfest in meeting fo two of the CCAC's top teams. The Titans suffocating defense forced 26 RedHawks turnovers and held IUN to just 14% shooting 2-14 in the final quarter to pull away for the 62-53 victory.
IU Northwest 22 Titan turnovers of their own and held IU South bend to just 36% shooting, however the Titans attempted 15 more field goal attempts than IUN and the RedHawks were unable to make up enough ground at the free thrown line shooting just 13-22.
Baskets were tough to come by for both teams and the RedHawks finished with just two players in double figures.

Michaela Schmidt each scored 10 points for IUN and Sarah martin finished with 9 points. IU Northwest was just 4-124 form long distance while the Titans were cold going 5-25 from three.
Tiara Jackson under constant pressure and double teams added 5 points with a team high 6 rebounds and 4 assists. The loss was the first in CCAC Conference play for the RedHawks as they fell to 8-3 overall and 5-1 in conference play.
