Bourbonnais, Ill. – The RedHawks traveled to Bourbonnais in a matchup of teams undefeated in CCAC league play. After a low scoring and sluggish opening 10 minutes, the Tigers found that shooting stroke and we're able to open up a double-digit lead 43-32 at the half behind Tigers star Tyler Schmidt who had 15 points 8 rebounds and 4 assists at the half. Isaac Stanback led the RedHawks at the half with 13 points.
In the second half
Jared Johnson would score 19 of his team high 28 points in the second half, however it wouldn't be enough to make a serious threat to the Tigers lead. ONU would maintain a steady double digit lead throughout most of the second half, however Johnson's transition three would cut the lead to 7 with six minutes remaining. That however would be as close as IUN would get as Schmidt was stellar finishing with 34 points 15 rebounds and 8 assists in an outstanding performance to lead the Tigers to a 97-80 victory.
Stanback finished with 16 points and Lamarius Lillard added 13 for IUN. The loss was the first of the season for the RedHawks in league playing falling to 2-1 in the CCAC and 2-5 overall. Meanwhile, the Tigers improved to 5-1 overall and 3-0 in league to plat to stay atop of the CCAC.
Next Up: The RedHawks (2-5/2-1) are idle until Dec. 3 when they will travel to Joliet, Ill. to face the St. Francis Saints in CCAC league play.
