Kokomo, Ind. - IU Northwest Men's Basketball matched up with IU system rival and fellow 2022 NAIA National Tournament qualifier on Wednesday in Kokomo, Indiana. Cold shooting plagued the RedHawks in the first half as they struggled to find an offensive rhythm and fell to the Cougras by a final score of 68-59.
Both teams struggled offensively in the first half shooting as the Cougars led 33-23 at the break in a low scoring first half. The RedHawks shot just 32% in the opening 20 minutes connecting on just 8-35 from the floor. IU Northwest would find their touch from the floor in the second half as they trimmed a 15 point Cougar lead to just four on a Lamarius Lillard layup with less than two minutes to play in regulation. Poor RedHawk free throw shooting (9-19) would prove costly as that was as close as IUN would get, falling to 0-2 on the season.
IU Northwest was led by Isaac Stanback with 19 points on 8-13 shooting, however was just 1-7 from the line. Lamarius Lillard was the only other RedHawk in double figures with 18 points and a team high 9 rebounds. IU Northwest registered just 6 assists as a team. IU Kokomo receiving votes in the NAIA Top 25 National Coaches Poll improved to 3-0 on the season.
