Volleyball Drops Match to Trinity International in Three Sets Friday

DEERFIELD, Ill. -- The Indiana University Northwest women's volleyball team dropped a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference match to host Trinity International Friday.

SET BREAKDOWN

SET 1: Trinity International 25, IU Northwest 17

  • IU Northwest scored the first two points of the match before TIU bounced back to score three in a row. 
  • The Trojans held onto the slimmest of margins early on in the first set.
  • TIU scored five points in a row off a rally to make it 12-6.
  • The RedHawks tried to fight back to score make it 17-16 TIU but that was the closest IUN got as the Trojans ended the set on a 8-1 run.

SET 2: Trinity International 25, IU Northwest 16

  • Both teams traded points early on, making it 8-8.
  • TIU led 12-10 in the second set then would go on a six-point rally to extend their lead to 18-10.
  • The RedHawks tried to fight back but the Trojans were too much and won the set 26-15 to go ahead 2-0.

SET 3: Trinity International 25, IU Northwest 21

  • TIU scored the first three points of the third set to go up 3-0. 
  • IU Northwest would trail early in the third set before tying it up at 9-all then eventually taking the 10-9 lead.
  • The RedHawks led 15-14 midway through the third set but that would be the last lead IUN would have. 
  • TIU won the third set, 25-21 and won the match 3-0.

  • IU Northwest will be back in action Tuesday, September 29 as the RedHawks host to Saint Xavier at the Savannah Center starting at 7 p.m. CT.
