Volleyball Drops Conference Match to Trinity Christian Thursday

GARY, Ind. -- The Indiana University Northwest volleyball team dropped a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference match to Trinity Christian College Thursday.

SET BREAKDOWN

SET 1: Trinity Christian 26, IU Northwest 24

  • Both teams went back-and-forth to start the first set which made it 5-all.
  • IU Northwest led 14-12 then Trinity Christian scored four points in a row to make it 16-14.
  • The RedHawks would grab the lead again after going on a 5-1 rally to grab a 19-17 lead.
  • IUN led 23-20 late in the first set before TCC tied it after scoring three in a row.
  • After the RedHawks scored the next point, the Trolls scored three in a row of their own to win it 26-24.

SET 2: IU Northwest 25, Trinity Christian 23

  • Trinity Christian led 4-1 early in the second set. 
  • IU Northwest went on a 5-2 run to tie the second set at 6-6.
  • Moments later, the RedHawks stretched out their lead to 14-9. 
  • The RedHawks made it 22-19 late in the second set before the Trolls scored three in a row to tie it at 22-all.
  • IU Northwest won the second set, 25-23, to tie it at 1-1.

SET 3: Trinity Christian 25, IU Northwest 18 

  • Trinity Christian led 5-1 early for another early advantage like the second set.
  • This time the Trolls did not give up that lead.
  • IU Northwest made it to 6-3 but that was the closest it would get.
  • The Trolls extended their lead to 21-7 late in the third set.
  • The RedHawks tried to fight back into the set after going on a 10-1 rally but it was too late.
  • TCC scored the last three points of the set to win the third set 25-18.

SET 4: Trinity Christian 25, IU Northwest 16

  • IU Northwest looked to tie the match at 2-2 to force a fifth set.
  • Both teams went back-and-forth for most of the beginning of the set.
  • The RedHawks led 12-11 midway through the set then Trinity Christian went on a 9-1 run to grab a 20-13 lead.
  • Trinity Christian held onto a huge margin the rest of the fourth set and won it 25-16.

  • IU Northwest has a quick turnaround as the RedHawks will hit the road Friday, September 25 as the RedHawks travel to Trinity International starting at 7 p.m. CT.
