QUARTER BREAKDOWN
FIRST QUARTER (IU Northwest 24, Roosevelt 9)
- Lauren Smolen started the game with a basket then Roosevelt responded right away with a three to take the early lead but that was the Lakers only lead as the RedHawks took control the rest of the way.
- Sydney Van Meter and Desa Geisler hit back-to-back three-pointers to make it 8-3.
- IU Northwest led 10-7 then Jessy Siems started a big run for the RedHawks as they scored 11 unanswered points.
- Roosevelt responded with a basket then Samantha Martin hit one from deep to close out the opening quarter with IU Northwest leading 24-9.
SECOND QUARTER (IU Northwest 32, Roosevelt 20)
- The second quarter was pretty much all Roosevelt but IU Northwest still held onto a double digit lead.
- Roosevelt looked to make a run but Van Meter nailed a three-pointer to keep the distance with the score.
- Michaela Schmidt made a layup in the final seconds of the half to give the RedHawks a 32-20 lead into the break.
THIRD QUARTER (IU Northwest 49, Roosevelt 34)
- Both teams traded baskets to start the second half before Van Meter and Schmidt made three-pointers to make it 40-22.
- Roosevelt cut it back down to a 14-point deficit again before Martin hit one from down-town to make it 45-28.
- The Lakers responded with consecutive baskets before Smolen made a layup.
- Roosevelt ended the third quarter with a basket this time as the RedHawks led 49-34 after the third.
FOURTH QUARTER (IU Northwest 62, Roosevelt 47)
- RU started the fourth quarter like they ended the third with a basket to try to crawl back in the contest.
- Jessy Siems put a quick stop to that after making a three-pointer which made it 52-36.
- IU Northwest held a big lead all the way throughout and did not give up their double-digit lead.
