Men's Soccer Drops Match Against Saint Xavier Tuesday

CROWN POINT, Ind. -- The Indiana University Northwest men's soccer team was unable to come up with the victory as the host RedHawks lost a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference match to Saint Xavier Tuesday.

HALF BREAKDOWN 
FIRST HALF: Saint Xavier 1, IU Northwest 0

  • Saint Xavier wasted no time going on the attack in the seventh minute but the shot attempt was saved.
  • Trevor Witte looked to give IU Northwest a 1-0 lead but his shot went wide in the 20th minute.
  • A few minutes later, the Cougars made it 1-0 after Dorian Mahone found the back of the net.
  • Martin Palma had a huge scoring opportunity as he went on the attack but his shot sailed just high of the goal.
  • In the 37th minute, Sami Issa looked to tie it but his shot went high.
  • Moments later, Witte tried again but this time it went wide right in the 40th minute. 
  • Right before half, Palma tried to tie it up at 1-all but his shot attempt was saved by the goalkeeper.
  • Fernando Ramos made three saves in the first half.

SECOND HALF: Saint Xavier 2, iU Northwest 0

  • SXU made it 2-0 early in the second half during the 48th minute.
  • Moments later in the 62nd minute, Ricardo Avalos tripled the lead and made it 3-0 SXU.
  • Ramos added three more saves in the second half to make it six total.

FINAL SCORE: Saint Xavier 3, IU Northwest 0

  • IU Northwest Men's Soccer will be back in action Friday, October 8 as the RedHawks host Lincoln College at the Crown Point Sportsplex starting at 4 p.m. CT.
