Box Score UNIVERSITY PARK, Ill. -- The Indiana University Northwest Men's Basketball Team was unable to secure the victory at the final day of the GSU Tip-Off Classic as the RedHawks lost to East-West, 89-86, Saturday.
The Phantoms (1-1) defeated the RedHawks (1-1), 89-86, at the Athletics and Recreation Center on the campus of Governors State University, Saturday.

HALF BREAKDOWN
FIRST HALF (East-West 43, IUN 35)
- Jason Peace made it 6-2 IU Northwest to start the game with 17:14 left in the half.
- East-West went on a 9-3 run to go ahead 11-9 at the 13:24 mark in the opening half.
- The Phantoms went on another run this time a 6-0 to make it 17-11 after Peace tied it with a pair of free throws.
- East-West up as much as 12 (39-27) before Martrellian Gibson knocked down back-to-back three-pointers to make it single digits again.
- Gibson hit a huge bucket right before halftime to go into the break down eight (43-35).
SECOND HALF (IUN 51, East-West 45)
- Jared Johnson made a basket to start the second half to make it a six-point deficit (43-37).
- Moments later, Johnson knocked down a pair at the line to make it a four-point game (52-48) with 15:51 left in the game.
- East-West rallied again and made a 13-2 spurt the next three minutes to pull ahead 65-50.
- Back-to-back buckets by Peace and Larry Lynch made it down to 11 with 12:10 to go in the contest.
- The Phantoms led 71-56 with 9:27 to go then a Johnson three-pointer made it within seven points with five minutes left.
- East-West had control pretty much the rest of the way until Gibson hit a layup with five seconds to go to give IUN their first lead since the opening minutes.
- The Phantoms were able to get a shot off in the closing seconds to take this game, 89-86.
