Box Score Gary, Ind. -- The Indiana University Northwest women's volleyball team lost to Indiana University South Bend, 3-0, in a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference match at the Savannah Center, Tuesday. The Titans (20-11, 14-3 CCAC) defeated the RedHawks (14-9, 9-8 CCAC) in three sets and the scores were 25-21, 25-18, 25-23.
IUN led the first set early 9-6 after back-to-back kills by Bella Kuechenberg (Lowell, Ind./Bishop Noll). IUSB cut it down to one point before the RedHawks scored the next two points to extend their lead after a kill by Robyn Griffin (Downers Grove, Ill./Lisle Senior) made it 14-11.
The Titans fought back and took a 16-15 lead. IUSB looked to pull away then IUN made it 20-19 but the Titans outscord the RedHawks 5-2 the rest of the set to win 25-21.
Both teams traded early points in the second set before IUSB started pulling away. The Titans led 13-8 midway through the second before the RedHawks scored four in a row capped off by kills by Mary Markusic (Munster, Ind./Bishop Noll) and Emilieshka De Jesus (Hobart, Ind./Portage) to make it a one-point set.
Another run was started by the Titans before a kill by Erica Kik (Griffith, Ind.) made it 19-16 in favor of IUSB. IUSB had the upper hand though, outscoring IUN 6-1 the rest of the set to win 25-17.
Just like the second set was similar to the third set with both teams tied 6-6. IUSB went on a 8-2 spurt to make it 14-8.
The Titans went up 18-11 late in the third set before IUN recorded five straight points off of five straight kills. De Jesus recorded four of those kills and Griffin had one to end it to make it 18-16.
IUN grabbed a 23-22 lead late after back-to-back kills by Kuechenberg and Markusic. IUSB closed out the match scoring the last three to win the set 25-23 and won the match 3-0.
De Jesus led the RedHawks with another double-double performance, leading the offense and defense, recording 13 kills and 16 digs. Maddie Maatman (Beecher, Ill./Illiana Christian) had 32 assists and 10 digs.
Caitlin Alwine (Goshen, Ind.) recorded nine digs on defense. Griffin had seven kills on the offensive side of the ball to round out the RedHawks leaders.
IUN concludes their regular season Thursday, November 7 as the RedHawks host Trinity International at the Savannah Center starting at 7 p.m. CT. Thursday is also senior night where we will honor our two seniors, Robyn Griffin and Cara Nebel before the match.

Trinity Christian won the regular season title. St. Francis (Ill.) is locked into fifth place which means they are the No. 5 seed in the tournament.
