Gary, Ind. -- The Indiana University Northwest women's volleyball team lost to Indiana University South Bend, 3-0, in a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference match at the Savannah Center, Tuesday. The Titans (20-11, 14-3 CCAC) defeated the RedHawks (14-9, 9-8 CCAC) in three sets and the scores were 25-21, 25-18, 25-23.

IUN led the first set early 9-6 after back-to-back kills by Bella Kuechenberg (Lowell, Ind./Bishop Noll). IUSB cut it down to one point before the RedHawks scored the next two points to extend their lead after a kill by Robyn Griffin (Downers Grove, Ill./Lisle Senior) made it 14-11.

The Titans fought back and took a 16-15 lead. IUSB looked to pull away then IUN made it 20-19 but the Titans outscord the RedHawks 5-2 the rest of the set to win 25-21.

Both teams traded early points in the second set before IUSB started pulling away. The Titans led 13-8 midway through the second before the RedHawks scored four in a row capped off by kills by Mary Markusic (Munster, Ind./Bishop Noll) and Emilieshka De Jesus (Hobart, Ind./Portage) to make it a one-point set.

Another run was started by the Titans before a kill by Erica Kik (Griffith, Ind.) made it 19-16 in favor of IUSB. IUSB had the upper hand though, outscoring IUN 6-1 the rest of the set to win 25-17.

Just like the second set was similar to the third set with both teams tied 6-6. IUSB went on a 8-2 spurt to make it 14-8.

IUN grabbed a 23-22 lead late after back-to-back kills by Kuechenberg and Markusic. IUSB closed out the match scoring the last three to win the set 25-23 and won the match 3-0.

De Jesus led the RedHawks with another double-double performance, leading the offense and defense, recording 13 kills and 16 digs. Maddie Maatman (Beecher, Ill./Illiana Christian) had 32 assists and 10 digs.
