Volleyball Falls to Judson Tuesday

Gary, Ind. -- The Indiana University Northwest Women's Volleyball team lost a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference match against Judson, 3-0, at the Savannah Center. 
 

  

The Eagles (18-10, 5-6 CCAC) defeated the RedHawks (11-6, 7-4 CCAC) in three sets, 25-19, 25-15, 25-13.

Judson led 8-4 early in the first set but IUN went on a 8-4 run to tie the match at 12-all after a kill by Emileishka De Jesus (Hobart, Ind./Portage). The Eagles had control the rest of the set pulling away to win the opener, 25-19.

IUN looked for tie things up in the second set but Judson had other plans. JU started the second set ahead 12-4, IUN tried to get back in the match after scoring three in a row with a kill by Erica Kik (Griffith, Ind.).

Mary Markusic (Munster, Ind./Bishop Noll) and Kila Stoudt (Eaton Rapids, Mich./Eaton Rapids) recorded a block. Hannah Starcevich (Highland, Ind.) recorded a kill to make it 12-7.

Judson pulled away midway through the match and there was no answer for IUN as the Eagles won the second set 25-15.

The third set was favoring Judson early on with the Eagles ahead 5-1. The RedHawks had the answer scoring the next four points to tie the match at 5-5 with the kill from De Jesus with the set from Caitlin Alwine (Goshen, Ind.). 

The Eagles made the late push towards the end of the match ending on a 20-7 run to win the third set 25-12. 

De Jesus led the RedHawks with nine kills. On defense, Alwine led the way with 17 digs. 

IUN Volleyball looks to bounce back and returns to action Thursday, October 17 as the RedHawks host Trinity Christian starting at 7 p.m. CT at the Savannah Center.
