Steve Hatchett will enter his sixth season as head assistant and developmental head coach of the men’s basketball team at Indiana University Northwest.

During the 2023-24 developmental basketball season Hatchett lead the RedHawks to a 5-3 record, which includes four consecutive wins. In the 100-93 win over Trinity Christian, IUN was led by Adam Eastland, who scored 36 points.

Hatchett specializes in skill development, scouting, and recruiting. In his first season of 2018-19, Hatchett contributed to the RedHawks’ quick start of 4-0 and the team finished with a 24-win season, setting a program record for the most wins in a single season. Hatchett also further developed the shooting efficiency of 2018-19 conference player of the year, Chris Dixon-Williams—averaged career highs in points (19.5), threes made, 3pt percentage (43.3%), and free throw percentage (80.6%).

As founder of the shooting efficiency training company, H-SET365, Hatchett has actively been involved with basketball since 2014 as a shooting coach/trainer. In 2016, Hatchett officially launched H-SET365 LLC, which later led to him meeting Coach Heredia. Additionally, Coach Hatchett in the 2019-20 season helped groomed the senior forward, Rashad Richardson, who averaged 21 points per game while earning the 2019-20 NAIA All-American honorable mention.

Coach Hatchett’s fourth season at Indiana University Northwest men’s basketball made history with its first appearance in the 2021-22 NAIA National Tournament after an 11-game winning streak, concluding the season 23-8. IUN men’s basketball team is 30+ games over .500 while winning nearly 70% of their games since Hatchett joined the RedHawks’ coaching staff.

Currently, Coach Hatchett helps with off-season scouting and recruiting as well as conducting summer workouts, player development, and skill conditioning.
