EAST CHICAGO, Ind. — IU Northwest women's soccer created plenty of chances but was unable to convert Tuesday night, settling for a 0-0 draw with Governors State at East Chicago Central High School.
The RedHawks (3-2-4, 1-1-1 CCAC) fired 16 shots, including five on goal, and held a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks. Despite the pressure, IU Northwest was denied by a strong effort from Jaguars goalkeeper Hannah Mailander, who made four saves in the first half before Valentina Jimenez came on to stop one more in the second.
IU Northwest's best opportunities came late in the match when Daisy Bonilla and Xiomara Santana each forced saves, while Katie Juarez narrowly missed with a header in the 78th minute. Governors State (1-3-1, 0-2-1 CCAC) was limited to just two shots, both of which sailed wide.
The RedHawks return to action Wednesday, Oct. 1, when they travel to South Bend, Ind., for a 4 p.m. matchup at IU South Bend.
