Hard Rock Northern Indiana Recap: RedHawks Battle to Draw with Crusaders

Crown Point, Ind. – RedHawks Women's Soccer welcomed the Madonna Crusaders the friendly indoor confines of the Sparta Dome on Saturday night in another non-conference clash with a WHAC conference foe.

The defensive battle between the two teams found them deadlocked 0-0 after the first 45 minutes of action as both teams stay in-tact defensively to limit good scoring opportunities to just a handful throughout the evening.

The second half would result in the same, as quality scoring opportunities were few and far between us both teams seeing both teams combine for just 11 total shots. RedHawks transfer Nora Loebbert was stellar in the back of the IU Northwest defense as the RedHawks defensive line limited quality looks from the Crusaders throughout the evening.

RedHawks goalkeeper Isabel Escalera fresh off CCAC defensive player of the week honors, recorded a clean sheet howevever thanks to the IUN defense only needed a single save to notch her second shutout of the season.

The RedHawks offensive attack was led by Salome Hernandez, who lead the team with two shots. Zoe Wells, Olivia Hansen, and Xiomara Santana accounted for the remainder of the IUN shots on the evening.

The RedHawks (2-2-1) will return to action this Tuesday when they travel to Wyoming, Michigan to square off with the Grace Christian Tigers in a non-conference tilt with a 2:30 p.m. CDT kickoff.
