BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – Prior to Saturday night's matchup, the Indiana University Northwest men's soccer program had never earned a point against perennial conference power Olivet Nazarene University since joining the CCAC in 2019. That changed on Saturday night as the RedHawks survived 31 ONU shot attempts thanks to a career-high 12 saves from junior goalkeeper
Devun Collins, to earn a well earned 0-0 draw on the road in Bourbonnais.
The RedHawks found themselves in the defensive third for much of the match and despite the relentless pressure from the Tigers, the defense remained composed and did not concede as Collins was spectacular in net.
Devun Collins saw no shortage of action, facing constant pressure from the Tigers' attack. Late in the second half, Olivet Nazarene continued to fire multiple shots up until the final whistle but were unable to convert, thanks to Collins' stellar performance. It was Collins' first career clean sheet with the RedHawks.
Junior forward
Kyle Scott and freshman forward
Cesar Lopez each registered a shot on goal, but both were saved by sophomore goalkeeper Nathan Lamberti. The RedHawks had a few chances in the Tigers' defensive third but could not find the back of the net.
The RedHawks move to 0-9-2 overall and 0-1-2 in conference. Their road trip continues as they travel to Notre Dame, Indiana to face Holy Cross College on Wednesday, October 2. Kickoff is slated for 3:30 p.m. CDT.
