Carrothers tabbed WBCA All-America

ATLANTA – The Women's Basketball Coaches Association announced the NAIA All-America team Tuesday, which saw Indiana University Northwest women's basketball guard Jessica Carrothers voted to the honorable mention All-American squad by the member coaches from across the country.

Carrothers, who has already captured CCAC Player and Newcomer of the Year earlier this month finished her first season with the RedHawks as the nation's second leading scorer and helped IUN to the CCAC Tournament semifinals.

This season the Highland, Ind., native played and started 22 games, averaged 27.7 points, 6.6 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 3.1 steals per game. Carrothers also closed out the year with three double-doubles, which came against CCAC foes Olivet Nazarene, Calumet St. Joseph's and Saint Francis.

Carrothers was the only women's basketball student-athlete from the CCAC to earn the WBCA All-America honor.

"Jessica's spectacular first season at IU Northwest solidified her as one of the top NAIA players in the country," Head Coach Jesse Ford said. "Her teammates and the coaches are very proud of her, and look forward to her continued success."
